Indiana Jones 5 soon in the cinemas!

Indiana Jones 5’s first reviews have arrived

Indiana Jones 5, aka Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, is finally coming to cinemas this summer, and we now have the first reviews for Indy’s final adventure.

The new movie is being kept largely under wraps, but we do know that the titular MacGuffin has the ability to rewrite history. Obviously, the Nazis want to get their hands on it and Indy is the only person standing in their way.

Indiana Jones 5 has held its world premiere at Cannes Film Festival tonight (May 18), and those lucky few in attendance have taken to social media to share their first reactions to the new movie.

So does Indy go out on a high? The early word is, while The Dial of Destiny has plenty of nostalgia, it might not measure up to the first three films.

Last month, Harrison Ford confirmed that Dial of Destiny really is his final outing as Indiana Jones, even with the planned TV series in the works.

“This is the final film in the series, and this is the last time I’ll play the character. I anticipate that it will be the last time that he appears in a film,” he revealed, adding that he “will not be involved” in that TV series if it happens.

Before its release, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny has gotten the seal of approval from the person that matters most: Steven Spielberg.

“Disney CEO Bob Iger had a screening for a lot of the Disney executives, and I came to the screening along with the director James Mangold. Everybody loved the movie. It’s really, really a good Indiana Jones film. I’m really proud of what Jim has done with it,” he said.

“When the lights came up I just turned to the group and said, ‘Damn! I thought I was the only one who knew how to make one of these’.”

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is released in UK cinemas on June 28 and in US cinemas on June 30.

Indiana Jones 5 is an upcoming American action-adventure film directed by James Mangold and written by Jez Butterworth, John-Henry Butterworth, and Mangold. The film stars Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones, alongside Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The movie is set in 1969 during the height of the space race between the United States and the Soviet Union.  Indiana Jones will be fighting Nazis in this movie.
